Together We Can Do It!
We have started our Capital Buildings Campaign to purchase the school property and to make improvements in our Church and buildings. This is all about us growing together to become the most incredible and vibrant community of disciples of the Risen Christ–like no one has ever seen before in the High Desert and anywhere! Search your heart and ask God “what do you want me to do as your representative on earth…as your disciple of the Risen Christ?” Your Church, your priests, and your community of disciples is giving you the answer and asking you to join us and give…to work together, to make sacrifices, to give your time, to give your love, to give your money so we can grow together to bring Jesus Christ into the world. “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth…but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven” (Mt 6:19). And so we ask you to please write on your checks “Capital Buildings Campaign” or visit our website www.oldccav.org for online giving. May God bless you and bless our community in our new venture together to store up treasure in heaven!
We Need YOUR help…
Our Lady of the Desert Capital Building Campaign
We need to raise $1.5 million over three years, 2017, 2018, 2019. Why? Because we have a calling, a mission, as disciples of Jesus Christ to bring what we have to the greater community. What do we have? Just ask anyone who comes to visit our Church. We are welcoming, loving, compassionate, and we care for anyone in need. We pray for people, we celebrate special healing masses, and we visit the sick and the elderly bringing God’s love that transforms people and really causes miracles to happen.
The Diocese of San Bernardino has given us the opportunity to purchase the ministry building for $400,000. Most of the ministries are already using the building. And it is an opportunity to create so many more new and vital ministries to serve our community. When we buy it, the entire 17 acres of land will be titled “for the benefit of Our Lady of the Desert.” Our Church, Hall, Ministry Building, and Office are also in need of repairs and improvements like paving the parking lot, repairing the pews, fixing the parking lot lights, adding a new roof, maybe even a daycare facility for children, and other renovations. New landscape is needed for an outdoor courtyard, prayer garden and gathering areas. This will free up the hall so we can use it for its original intended purpose, for family celebrations, anniversaries, weddings and funerals. Most important, this is an opportunity to leave a legacy—room for the church to expand for future generations.
Please join us by giving from your heart to do the work God has called you to do as His disciple. The sacrifice of your pledge gift will help us together to bring Jesus Christ into the world. Please use the pledge card to commit with your heart to your calling and our mission. We invite you to visit our website, oldccav.org for online giving. Remember, the amount you give does not matter, as long as you give from your heart.
Thank you and may God bless you and your family for your generous sacrifice. There is nothing more powerful than when we, His disciples, bring Jesus Christ into the world. Together we can do it—and nothing can stop us!

We, as members of Our Lady of the Desert Church, through the guidance of our Blessed Mother Mary, are a community of believers in Jesus Christ, from whom we have the mission of making His Gospel alive in our parish and in the world. By living out His Gospel, we help to shape a society with greater respect for human life, economic and environmental justice, cultural diversity, and global solidarity, so that we will build a church where everyone feels welcome and through it will find happiness and salvation.
